McCord began his career in nursing after completing the Accelerated Nursing Curriculum (Hastings, class of August 2011) at Creighton University.  He went to work for Nebraska Medicine.  Beginning in Medical Surgical/Telemetry nursing he progressed from staff RN to Lead RN.  He then took a position as a CARES RN, which allowed him to independently contract with Nebraska Medicine, and experience nursing in a wide variety of settings.  He’s worked on transplant units, neurology units, oncology units, and medical and surgical ICUs.  He ended his bedside nursing career at Nebraska Medicine in the Emergency Department—the area in which he is most passionate.

He completed the Doctor of Nursing Practice program at Creighton in May, 2018 with a Family Nurse Practitioner focus.  He has a strong passion for critical access care and service to underserved populations, cultivated over the last two years during his time with the Porto clinic in North Omaha.  He has also participated in medical mission trips to Honduras and Zambia, something he wishes to continue doing in the years to come.
